Chamber Executive Director Ken Brengle and 2018-2019 Chamber President Camille Miller (Mammoth Fun Shop) delivered January’s Power Lunch presentation on the Chamber’s plans, goals and strategies for the new year.

To craft a plan for 2018, the board and staff first re-visited our mission, vision and value statements and our strategic plan from 2017. The Chamber is moving to a June to July fiscal year this year, so the current board officers will serve 18-month terms from January 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. Learn more about our board members.

The Chamber is kicking off the new year with meetings with all of our committees. We have groups of people gathering for the Membership Committee, the Host Committee, the Peak Performance Program/Services Committee, the Events Committee and the Governmental Affairs Committee. The Governmental Affairs Committee is a new group for 2018 focused on addressing the critical community/governmental issues facing the Mammoth Lakes business community. Get involved with one of these groups!

We recently released the Mammoth Lakes Chamber app — the best way to get connected to our business community. Find restaurants, shops, guides, mechanics, spas and more on this free app. Share it with your guests and customers so they can access our events calendar, hot deals, job postings and business directory on the go.

Chamber staff are beginning the first Business Retention & Expansion Survey the town has seen since 2001. The plan is to interview 100-150 businesses in a variety of sizes, ages and industries to release a comprehensive report on the state of the business community this summer.

In partnership with Candor Insurance, the Chamber is looking into offering group health insurance for our business members.

The PPP/Services Committee is working with staff to redesign our customer service training program with three interactive speaker sessions throughout 2018 for frontline and management staff. An online resource library has been built and more tools are coming soon for local businesses to work on this important training piece. Staff are also looking at our existing business consulting program to figure out ways to improve and grow this benefit.

So that’s what we’re doing for you. What are we asking for in return?

  • Help us spread the word about the Mammoth Lakes Chamber app to your guests.
  • Learn how to update your information on ChamberMaster so you can add jobs, events and updates as they come up.
  • Get active on a committee. Your opinion and your voice are invaluable.
  • If you are selected, share your honest answers about what your challenges and successes are for our Business Retention & Expansion Survey.
  • Host an event. Get business owners and leaders into your business to show off what we have to offer in Mammoth Lakes.

Thanks for your ongoing support and involvement in the Chamber. If you’re not a member yet, join us in 2018. If you are a member, we are lucky to have you and we are always here for you.

Cheers to 2018!
