Mammoth Community Foundation
Giving back to our community
The Mammoth Community Foundation (MCF) was created by the Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce in 2000. The creation of our Foundation was in response to the need for quality K-12 education as well as disaster relief. Both were concerns that affected the economic viability of the Town of Mammoth Lakes. From 2000 to 2018, these were the two primary purposes of MCF. As Mammoth Lakes and Mono County matured, new specific issues arose and it became apparent that the purpose of the Foundation needed to evolve.
In 2018, the leadership of MCF elaborated its mission to include other economic impacts:
The purpose of the Mammoth Community Foundation is to promote, support and engage in activities and programs for Education, Leadership Development, Community Housing, Workforce Development and Economic Development.
Since 2020, MCF has assisted in providing funds for disaster relief projects including a local food bank at the onset of COVID-19 and the Walker Fire Relief Fund.
In 2022 MCF, through its Economic Development efforts, entered into a strategic alliance with the Mammoth Festival of Beers and Bluesapalooza to serve as the Non-Profit organization that provides the ABC license for the event. MCF also provided local non-profits with the ability to earn revenue for their organizations. These non-profits assisted with the event through beverage pouring, parking management and crowd control. In the first year of this strategic alliance, over $47,000 was distributed to thirteen local non-profit organizations.
